Introduction - Ticket Sales

Location and Time

The teaching and the public talk will be held on the 4th of June 2009 in the Europahal of the RAI in Amsterdam. For route description, parking facilities (€14. per day/part of a day), and information on public transportation please see the RAI site.

It is of the utmost importance that you arrive with time to spare because there will be an extensive security check at the entrance. The hall will be open from 08.00 a.m., and then again at 12 noon, and the entrance will close 15 minutes before the talks begin, that is respectively 09.15 a.m. and 13.45 p.m.. After that, you will be allowed to enter only after the Dalai Lama has taken his seat.

Auditorium

The public talk can now also be followed on a projection screen in the Auditorium (RAI, entrance G). Auditorium opens at 12:45 hours. In the Auditorium there will be ‘free seating’. Ticket holders have also access to the lecture of Sogyal Rinpoche in the Europahal. After the public lecture, visitors of the Auditorium can go to the Europahal to visit the stands (Buddhist organisations, books, etc.). Headsets will be available in the Auditorium, so please order a headset in case you want to follow the lecture in a language other than English.

Reserving E-tickets

Before reserving tickets you should read ‘Practical Information’ and ‘General Conditions for Visitors’. Tickets can be reserved through this website and you will receive them by email in the form of E-tickets.

Below please find a summary of the different E-tickets and their prices. You can choose a rank, and will then be assigned a sector in that rank. At the event, there will be free seating within that sector. Please refer to the diagram of the hall.

Rank 1, teaching (morning): € 60.

Rank 2, teaching (morning): € 50.

Rank 3, teaching (morning): € 40.

Rank 1, public talk (afternoon): € 55.

Rank 2, public talk (afternoon): € 45.

Rank 3, public talk (afternoon): € 35.

Auditorium, public talk (afternoon): € 15.

Visitors with a combi-ticket or a ticket for the afternoon have free entrance to the evening lecture by Sogyal Rinpoche.

All combi-tickets are sold out.

Rank 1, combi-ticket: € 110.

Rank 2, combi-ticket: € 90.

Sponsor seats

During this visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama it is possible to book a sponsor seat. Sponsors receive a passepartout for all the events on June 4th, lunch and a welcome drink on arrival.

We will also offer you the beautiful book ‘Tibet, een cultuur van vrede’. A headset is also included.

By booking a sponsor seat you will be sure of a relaxed and inspiring day in a seat close to the podium. You will also be contributing to the financial support of this special visit to the Netherlands.

Headsets

Translation in the main hall will be from Tibetan into English.

If you want translation into Dutch, French, German or Chinese, you will need to rent a headset. Please inform us if you want a headset when you reserve your ticket; you will then receive a separate E-ticket. It will not be possible to rent a headset at the location. This applies to the Auditorium as well.

Lunch

Through the catering at the RAI you can order a lunch packet. You will then receive a separate E-ticket. Lunch consists of:

Wholewheat roll with Gouda cheese

White roll topped with sesame seeds, with boiled egg, lettuce and tomato

Currant bun with butter

Apple

Practical Information

Translation

On the stage there will be translation from Tibetan into English. Other translations will be available through headsets:

  • from English to Dutch
  • from English to French
  • from English to German
  • from English to Chinese

With a headset you can tune in to one of these four languages. This applies to the Auditorium as well.

Important

  • It is required to leave coats, bags, umbrellas, etc. at the cloakroom. There are no lockers.
  • No bags, luggage, or food will be permitted in the main hall.
  • Lunch: no tin cans or thermos bottles will be permitted in the main hall.
  • You will receive a transparent plastic bag for information material, etc..
  • The main hall will be closed during the lunch break. Do not leave any belongings there!
  • Turn off your mobile phone!
  • Photography is forbidden in the main hall.
  • If you need to leave the area, you must take your valid e-ticket along.
  • No children under the age of 8 years old will be admitted.

Wheelchairs

Please inform us if you will be coming in a wheelchair by sending an email to info@dalailamanederland.nl; please also let us know if there will be a caretaker accompanying you. We will inform you by email about the possibilities and the ticket arrangements.

Sign language interpreter

For both the Buddhist and the Public Lecture there will be a limited number of seats for people a with hearing impairment and for whom a sign language interpreter will provide translation. To apply for this please send an email to secretariaat@dalailamanederland.nl. Please put the words ‘SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER’ in your header and clearly list your contactdetails in your mail.

General Conditions for Visitors

Terms

  • Event: the teaching and public lecture by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the lecture of Sogyal Rinpoche; all on June 4, 2009 in the RAI.
  • Location: RAI, Amsterdam.
  • Visitors: Visitors of the event. This includes all volunteers on Location at the event.
  • Organisation: Stichting Bezoek Zijne Heiligheid de Dalai Lama.

Application

These conditions apply to all Visitors of the event.

Admission requirements

  • Admission to the Location will only be permitted on the basis of a valid E-ticket, at the discretion of the Organisation.
  • One part of the admission check will be an examination of the Visitor and his/her baggage by metal detector and/or x-ray and/or manually. In this regard, a Visitor can be requested to acquiesce to an examination of bags, etc., by or in the name of, the Organisation. The Visitor can also be requested to cooperate in an examination of clothing or his/her person. A Visitor who refuses to acquiesce to such examinations of his/her belongings or person may be refused admission to the Location, without the right to restitution.
  • The following objects may not be brought into the Location:

a. firearms, guns: any object with which a projectile can be fired or injury or damage can be caused, or that has such an appearance;

b. pointed and/or sharp weapons and sharp objects; objects with points or cutting edges with which injury or damage can be caused;

c. blunt objects with which injury can be caused:

d. explosive or inflammable materials;

e. chemical and toxic substances;

f. glass bottles containing liquid;

g. intoxicating substances.

If these materials are found during the admissions check, they will be confiscated. If the Visitor does not wish to relinquish the goods to be confiscated, admission to the Location will be denied.

Remaining in the Location

  • While in the Location, the Visitor shall conduct him/herself according to the safety regulations, the rules set down here and without disturbing the peace. The Visitor is also required to promptly follow orders given by recognizable officials of the Organisation. If, in the opinion of said official, a Visitor acts in any way contrary to these regulations, conventions, instructions, he or she can be refused further admission to the Location, in which case the Organisation is not responsible for any loss or restitution.
  • Taking coats, bags, backpacks, umbrellas, and wearing other large objects is not permitted. Objects that are A-4 size and are not expandable should be left in the cloakroom. The organisation can refuse to store larger objects. The Organisation does not accept any responsibility for damage to or loss of goods left by the Visitor (ie at the cloak room). Wheelchairs may be subject to examination.

Code of behaviour

Visitors to the Location

  • Must not disturb other visitors by, including but not exclusively, causing too much noise, which can include but is not exclusive to, the use of mobile telephones, walkmans, mp3 players, etc.;
  • May not bring pets, with the exception of seeing-eye dogs;
  • No smoking;
  • No food or drinks in the main hall; food may not be brought into the Europahal; / Auditorium.
  • Must abide by all the regulations of the RAI.
